Baltimore County K9 Denny Reiter (retired) passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025; surrounded by those who love him most. Born on January 4, 2013 in Holland; K9 Denny joined the Baltimore County Unit in February 2014. Partnered with his Handler Steven Reiter, Denny was certified in patrol work. Denny defined making lemonade out of lemons, suffering complete ruptures of his CCL in both legs in 2017. He went from protecting the residents of Baltimore County with his handler, to nudging his civilian humans every morning to get up and get ready for work and school. He was quite a drill sergeant, pacing and barking, keeping their mornings on track. He was a faithful walking buddy. He had a very loud and intimidating exterior, but he was simply the kindest soul, full of unconditional love. Those who got past the sheer terror of his bark just fell in love with Denny. He had a charm that was unique to him and those who were willing to give him a chance never regretted it.
Denny’s family; PFC Officer Steven Reiter, Susanne, Joe and John, K9 Simon and K9 Tico will miss him terribly and are eternally grateful to have been so lucky to share their lives and home with such a wonderful hero. Run free, sweet boy.
